Zoom Painting Demonstration: Winter Riverbank Sunrise

Join me for a live online painting demonstration exploring a winter sunrise seen through trees on the bank of a river.

In this 90 minute Zoom session, I’ll demonstrate my approach to creating a sense of atmosphere, light and mood, with particular attention to tonal balance and expressive brushwork. You’ll be able to watch the painting develop from start to finish and gain insight into how I simplify the scene and suggest depth and space.

This session is designed to be informative and inspiring, offering a chance to observe the decision-making process behind the painting, rather than a step-by-step workshop. Questions can be submitted via the chat and will be answered towards the end of the demonstration.

    • If Zoom is not already on your device, you may be asked to download it. This is free, safe, and only takes a minute or two.

    • Clear on-screen instructions are provided by Zoom.

How will I join the demonstration?

That’s all you need to do.

Will I be on camera or need to speak?

    • No. You are very welcome to watch only.

    • Your camera and microphone can remain off throughout.

    • Questions can be typed into the chat, and I will answer them at the end.

What if I’m not sure it’s working?

    • I recommend clicking the link 10–15 minutes before the start time.

    • This gives you time to make sure everything opens correctly.

    • If Zoom needs to update or download, this will happen automatically.

    What equipment do I need?

    • A computer, laptop or tablet with internet access.

    • Headphones or speakers so you can hear clearly.

    • A larger screen is helpful but not essential.

Do I need to paint along?

    • No. This is a demonstration, not a class.

    • You can simply watch, take notes, or have materials nearby if you wish.
