Zoom Painting Demonstration: Winter Coastal Light

Experience Winter Coastal Light – Live from My Studio

Join me for a 90-minute live Zoom demonstration where I’ll show you how to capture the mood and light of a winter coastal scene. You’ll see a painting develop with a focus on:

  • Simplifying buildings and figures without losing character

  • Creating depth and space with tonal relationships

  • Expressive brushwork that suggests texture and atmosphere

This session is about observing the decision-making process behind the painting, rather than following a step-by-step workshop. You can submit questions via chat, which I’ll answer at the end of the demonstration.

  • What to Expect – Using Zoom

You don’t need to be confident with technology to take part in this demonstration — just click the link!

Do I need to download anything?
If you are using a computer, laptop or tablet, Zoom will usually open automatically when you click the link.
If Zoom is not already on your device, you may be prompted to download it. This is free, safe and only takes a minute but is not necessary (see tip).

Tip: For the smoothest experience, we recommend clicking “View in browser” when opening the Zoom link — this means you won’t need to install Zoom at all.

How will I join the demonstration?

    • You will receive an email 24 hours before the session with a link to a registration page.

    • Once you have registered, Zoom will email you a personalised link to join the demo.

    • At the time of the session, simply click your personalised link.

    • Zoom will place you in a waiting room, and I will admit you shortly before the session begins.

Will I be on camera or need to speak?
No — you are very welcome to watch only.
Your camera and microphone can remain off.
Questions can be typed into the chat and I will answer them towards the end of the session.

What if I’m not sure it’s working?
Try clicking your link 10–15 minutes before the start time.
This gives you time to check everything opens correctly.
If Zoom needs to update or download, this will happen automatically.

    What equipment do I need?

    • A computer, laptop or tablet with internet access

    • Headphones or speakers to hear clearly

    • A larger screen is helpful but not essential

Do I need to paint along?
No — this is a demonstration, not a class.
You can simply watch, take notes or have materials nearby if you wish.
