‘Standing Quiet’ was painted en plein air in the soft light of early morning beside the River Stour near Dedham. With birdsong in the air and the water perfectly still, the scene was peaceful and full of quiet presence. A strong silhouetted tree rises calmly against gentle blues of distant woodland and the muted greens of the nearby field, capturing a fleeting moment of stillness and solitude.
