One of the biggest challenges with painting in the studio can be maintaining focus. Join Graham Webber ROI on this one day workshop to discover how using a sketchbook before, during and after working on a painting can help maintain focus, motivate, meet challenges and develop an oil painting even further. We will ask key questions during the painting and challenge ourselves to look beyond the rendering of subjects and into the key design principles that make successful paintings. By the end of the workshop you will have a framework to integrate into your own approach to painting in oil.
Painting is easiest when you are working on a subject you know and are inspired by so please bring a printout of a landscape/coastal photo that you would like to work from. There will be some references available if you prefer.
The workshop is suitable for those who have some experience in painting or drawing but the approach and techniques for painting in oil will be covered, so no direct experience of oil painting is necessary. If you would prefer to use water-mixable oils or acrylics please feel free.
