In a quiet valley near Llangollen, sheep move and graze in front of large, sheltering trees, while the patchwork of fields and woodland stretches beyond. Painted in the studio from reference photographs taken on our way to Castell Dinas Brân, this work explores the rhythm of the landscape — the interplay of movement in the foreground with the stillness of the distant hills. While it served as the basis for a larger studio painting, this small work possesses its own charm, immediacy, and character, capturing the essence of the scene in a single, lively sketch.
